Not only does it come fully loaded with some of the coolest heroes (and heroines) Marvel has to offer, but it’s a smart, knowing thrill-ride armed with director Joss Whedon’s characteristically sarky wit.

It’s also breaking box office records all over the place. In its opening weekend alone, Avengers took $207.4m in BO receipts, and has now made over $1bn worldwide. Now that’s big.
