She’s the terrifying antagonist in the Hammer horror bearing her name, an adaptation of Susan Hill’s defining 1983 novel. A stage play adap’s been running uninterrupted in the West End since ’87, but it was up to Eden Lake director James Watkins to bring her to the big screen for the first time since the 1914 silent film. 

Woman In Black has a post-Potter Daniel Radcliffe on spook duty as a young solicitor haunted by the eponymous dame. If you can make it to the end credits without screaming, you’re braver than us.
