Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
A good old-fashioned head-scratcher
Let The Right One In opened doors for Swedish director Tomas Alfredson. One such door led him to this, an adaptation of John le Carré’s genre-defining spy novel.
A challenge, considering the complex nature of le Carré’s material, but Alfredson deftly navigates the inter-linking plot strands to create something complex but utterly compelling.
It helps when you’ve got a cast that includes Gary Oldman (as George Smiley), Colin Firth and John Hurt, all of whom raise their game to match Alfredson's gorgeously glacial visuals.
